Some people are saying it needs to be faster but I absolutely love the slow and peaceful tempo--and I'm the kind of pianist who wants to play everything really fast
Not always is the case but I do find that the more practiced a piece, then the slower the pace. Here the listener would never feel dull moments. So many piano sonatas playing time ranges almost doubled depending on pianist. My own impression is that longer interpretations are almost always more authentic to present the pianists" own voice
I have this on record played by Horowitz. And just on this piece there is a big scratch and it is completely destroyed. I just listened to some different versions on youtube. All of them a little bit too fast. I was so disappointed that I did not want to listen to another one. But then I discovered that the runtime of this video is a little bit longer than the other ones, and so I tried to listen to it. And I am glad that I did. My favourite version so far beside Horowitz. Thank you so much, Mr. Lipstein, for playing and uploading.
I listen to every notes. He really put a care on every notes. Not to soft, not too hard. Exactly on what is intended. Someday I just want to shake hand with him (which is impossible)
My favorite interpretation. It sounds a bit slowish, but Lipstein kinda knew how to drive this waltz to perfection. This sounds way more emotional than Horowitz, which is considered to be a golden standard. I think Brahms had this in his mind when he wrote it...
This is the most beautiful Interpretation of this piece on youtube. I realy do agree, no more words are needed

Fast ruins this piece.

Tears in my eyes, thank you.
The best version I've heard.

I've heard a lot of performances to practice this piece this year, but your performance is the best!

When I leave this earth, this is the only piece I want to be played. This is extraordinary!
Beautiful. Love the tempo and dynamics. So very graceful and connected to his instrument. Thank you.
This is the best peformance ever, the tempo follows the feeling and that is the most important of this experience
Played with passion. That makes the best performers, those that play with passion. Bravo!
Played with feeling from the heart 💕
Absolutely. Almost brought a tear to my eye.
Very well done.. Excellent playing Mister 😊

maraboo72 brilliant. Gentle, kind, just wonderful.
I'd found exactly the same. Absolutely no heart to the others at their paces, but this is beautiful.

Mr. Lipstein shows how Brahms' waltz should be played.

Still, do hear Lars Vogt as well. It was his favourite encore.

absolute delicacy. my mother always said that to play Brahms you need six fingers..
Did she maybe mean 12?
We can't judge a masterpiece...

This is amazing, but it doesn't quite move me the same as the new Canadian Brass quintet. But I might just be biased.

Ni avec lui, ni sans lui... 😢
Well played! But you need a little bit more practice to make it sound more like te waltz
Too slow. It needs to be swift and sweet. Try Julius Katchen.
Noooooooo!
Das war zu langsam gespielt. Schneller ist besser!
Genau DAS nicht.
Meine Klavierlehrerin spielte es genau so - Note für Note und SO muss es sein !
Too slow. Fail.
I don'y like it. Too slow and stiff !
Definitely should NOT be played faster
Mr Noodle absolutely killing it
he is the only one i know who plays it right in the tempo of waltz.
Kihyun Kim yes!
Yes! My teacher tells me too - romantic Waltz needs romantic tempo.
Kihyun Kim, listen to the same Waltz in plays Evgeny Kissin
